The oil pipe line which supposedly would have made Europe less dependent from Russia lies there. With Russia arming the separatists and the US-Poland missile shield agreement, this may change completely. Russia now backing the secession from Georgia has another ace in its pockets. Energy supremacy is clearly what is at stake. This might be highly costly for Italy and all Europe.
